I am the vine; you are the branches.

John 15:5

What’s your purpose?

Why are you alive? Why do you have the gifts you have? The personality you have? Why do you live where you live, work where you work, and have the family that you have? What’s your purpose?

Our Scriptures reveal to us that God has a mission and has been busy working this mission since the beginning of time. God created the world, placed humans as stewards in this creation, and built relationships with people to share joy, love, and grace. When we chose to go a different way than the one God gave to us, God became even more determined to have an eternal relationship with us. God gave us Jesus to spread the message of God’s arrival in our time and space. God gave Jesus over to us to be crucified. God delivered Jesus out of the darkness of death and the grip of evil. This is all part of God’s mission.

A wonderful discovery in God’s mission is that God doesn’t go about the mission all alone. God wants partners in this mission. God wants people to participate in this mission to help the world learn how to live right and to love right. God wants life for us--the abundant, full life that is drenched in all that is good, beautiful, mysterious, and holy. God wants to include us.

We believe the Church has an important part to play in God’s mission. We believe that the Holy Spirit is responsible for bringing us to faith in Christ, for revealing to us the beauty of God’s majesty, and for equipping us to participate in God’s mission.

Our part in God’s mission is our purpose. It’s why we are here. It’s why we are given the gifts we’re given and the personalities we’re given. We’re all to be used and included in God’s mission. It’s our purpose.

What’s yours?

In 1985, God planted Preston Meadow Lutheran in Plano, TX. Since then, God has gathered hundreds of families to participate in this holy mission. Some have stayed; some have been transferred; and some have run the race and now join God in heaven. We believe that there is a space for you in God’s mission, and we’d love for you to join us in our part of it. Please explore through the pages you find on our website. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you want to discover more about our purpose and how you can play a part in it.
