Melissa Barrett Communications Coordinator, ext. 221 melissa.barrett@pmlc.org
Growing up as an “oilpatch” kid, Melissa spent most of her childhood overseas in London, Norway and Scotland. After graduating high school, she attended Rhodes College where she earned a degree in International Relations in 1995. Her passion for writing and marketing lead her into the fields of advertising and publishing. In 2000, the Worldwide Web was booming so she enrolled at The Art Institute of Houston and earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Web Design & Multimedia. This resulted in the discovery of her ideal field: Communications! She spent the next seven years managing corporate graphics & communications departments in the technology and oil & gas industries.
Melissa married her husband, Kirk, in 2005, and they moved to Plano in 2007 to be closer to family. Melissa put her career on hold when daughter Grace was born in 2008, followed by daughter Faith, just 14 months later. Are Melissa & Kirk ever glad to have moved just 5 minutes from Omi & Gramps! Both daughters attend PMLCs KDO Preschool, and in August 2011, Melissa began working as PMLCs Communications Coordinator. She feels truly blessed to do the work that she loves, in a faith that she loves, close to the two girls that she loves best! Clearly, Melissa’s favorite bible verse is Ephesians 2:8: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” |
