The PMLC youth ministry is all about living out our faith with adventure, passion, and meaning. We invite you to join us for outrageous fun adventures, quiet times of prayer, meaningful service, and being in relationships with people who really care about you. We believe being in partnership with youth, adults, and our families are key relationships God uses to form faith and point us toward our most important connection: Jesus.
Each week we have a couple opportunities for Middle and High School aged youth to connect, learn and experience Jesus. A few of those opportunities are Shalom Choir, Youth Hand Bells, Sunday School, Fuel, and Da’Light.
Shalom Choir is our 7th-12th grade youth choir. We meet every Sunday from 5-6pm and we practice music, experience fellowship and build relationships. Occasionally there is a special treat, like cookies or ice cream as well. We sing in worship once a month and we also perform for special festival days like Maundy Thursday or Easter. We have approx. 20-30+ youth in our choir and it really is a fun time. You don’t even have to be an outstanding singer to join. Our only requirement is that you make a joyful noise to the Lord. We do have a Music and Mission Trip every summer where we perform all across the US and sightsee along the way.
Youth Hand Bell Choir
The Youth Hand Bell Choir is for 7th-12th. We meet every Sunday from 4-5pm and we practice our music, experience fellowship and build relationships. We ring in worship usually once a month and we also perform for special festival days like Maundy Thursday or Easter. We have approx. 12-18+ youth in our bell choir and it really is a fun time. You don’t have to be able to read music to join, but it is helpful. We do have a Music and Mission Trip every summer where we perform all across the US and sightsee along the way.
Sunday School at Preston Meadow is really fun. We meet from 9:45a-10:45a every Sunday for some fun, faith and fellowship. We have three Sunday School opportunities for 7th-12th graders. We have our 7th and 8th Grade Sunday School Class where we grapple with questions of our faith, like “Did Jesus Sin?” or “Who Wrote the Bible, God or Humans?” These questions help strengthen our faith and help us dig deeper into our own discovery of faith’s many questions. In our High School Sunday School class we talk about some current events and issues we struggle with every day, and in the Wired Word, our older High School class, we talk about current events and our response as Christians to life’s current struggles and situations.
FUEL is our Confirmation ministry at Preston Meadow. FUEL is a two year program that traditionally starts in 7th grade and the youth are confirmed at the end of their 8th grade year. We talk about everything from the Old and New Testament to the Lutheran Sacraments and even talk about the Canonization process, Law & Gospel, and Adiaphora. We want to allow space where we can talk about these things, let the kids ask questions, and struggle with these deep theological concepts so that they can shape their faith and grow their faith in the best way that makes sense to them. FUEL meets every Wednesday night from 7-8:30p in the Youth Room.
Da’Light is our 9th-12th grade youth group time. Da’Light changes every week and that is what the kids love about it. One week we will have a movie night, another may be a acoustic jam session with their favorite praise songs. We have bible study nights and game nights too. Da’Light is a great time for the high school youth to connect with each other, build faith together, and have a great time. We wasn't these kids to be Da’Light of the world and also to Da’Light in the Lord. We meet every Sunday night from 6-8pm in the Youth Room.
